Hungarian Cookie Recipes & Roll Out Cookie Recipes

I tried to locate a lost Hungarian Cookie recipe for a customer today by matching ingredients...Crisco, lemon zest, cream cheese, sour cream with these instructions, "The dough must be refrigerated over night before the roll out and baking the next day."

3/4 cup butter or margarine 1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 cups brown sugar 3 cups sifted flour
2 eggs, well beaten 3 tsps. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream butter or margarine, add brown sugar, eggs and vanilla. Blend until fluffy.
Add sifted dry ingredients. Mix well. Shape in rolls, wrap in waxed paper, place in refrigerator overnight. Slice thin, place on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes. Yield: 5 dozen cookies.

Nut Cookies - Add 1/2 cup finely chopped nuts.
Fruit Cookies-Add 1/2 cup chopped dates, raisins, figs or mixed nuts.
Lemon Cookies-Omit vanilla, add 1 teaspoon lemon juice, 1 1/2 teaspoon grated lemon rind.
Chocolate Cookies-Add 2 squares melted chocolate.
Coconut Cookies-Add 1 cup shredded coconut.
Spice Cookies-Add 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/8 teaspoon cloves and 1/2 teaspoon ginger with sifted dry ingredients.

1 cup butter
a pinch of salt
1 cup cream cheese
orange marmalade
2 cups four
1 tbsp. thick sour cream

Combine butter with cream cheese, salt and thick sour cream. Sift in two cups flour. Mix and knead until quite smooth. Gather up in ball, wrap in wax paper and put in frig for at least 3 hours. (keeps well for several days). Roll very thin and cut in 3-inch squares. Spread with orange marmalade or jam. Bake 20 minutes in rather a hot oven.

CREAM CHEESE REFRIGERATOR COOKIES (butter, cream cheese, yogurt)

2 1/2 cups of flour
1 egg, unbeaten
1 cup margarine
1 tsp. of grated lemon rind
1 tbsp. lemon rind
1 tsp. baking powder
3 ozs. cream cheese
1 cup of sugar

Sift flour, baking powder. Mix margarine with cheese; add sugar; mix thoroughly. Add egg, lemon rind, lemon juice, mix well. Mix in flour mixture. Refrigerate for about 1/2 hr. Heat oven at 375 degree F. Force dough thru star dish of cookie press in form of a circle, onto ungreased cold cookie sheet. Sprindle with plain or colored sugar. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes.
